I see from your correspondence that Chairman MacMillan has kicked off the hate campaign in preparation for the next general election.
I personally feel sad and embarrassed when this kind of spit and venom comes out through the media and really shows what a divided and disrespectful society we live in. He should remember that both members were elected with a very clear majority by the people of the Western Isles.
In his correspondence he starts off praising the Scottish Secretary and end up with the usual raving abuse against the sitting MPs. Most Scottish people don’t know or care who Jim Murphy is or what role he plays in this beleaguered Labour Government.
As for John Macleod I couldn’t care less supposing he went to the moon. Murphy or Macleod isn’t going to make a blind bit of difference to anyone or anything in the islands and supposing DJ MacSween got into parliament tomorrow he would not make any difference either.
Callum Macdonald was an MP for 16 years, Malcolm K MacMillan for 35 years and I don’t think anyone can recall any outstanding efforts from either of them. If you walked the streets of Stornoway today and asked everyone you met if they remember who they were the majority wouldn’t have a clue.
The majority of people in the UK are so disgusted and fed up with the Labour Government at the moment that you could very well see a big drop in the number of people turning out to vote especially the young and the kind of letters Chairman MacMillan write leave a sour taste.
