Beverly Hills celebrity Holly Montag is sporting a Scottish Gaelic proverb tattoo on her body.

The stunning 26-year-old actress, who stars in the smash hit  Californian reality drama programme “The Hills,” proudly showed off the Gaelic saying, written down her left side, as she posed for photos at  the Playboy Super Bowl party in Miami on Saturday night.

It reads "Cha bhi fios aire (sic) math an tobair gus an traigh e" which translates to "the worth of the well is not known until it dries up.”

But the fourth word, aire, in the tattoo has been wrongly spelt and should read air.

The phrase is a reference to not appreciating the vital importance of something or someone until it has gone.

It is understood she had the tattoo done about a year ago but it has rarely been bared in public.

Holly Montag is famous for starring in youth TV show The Hills which is a popular reality television programme charting the personal dilemmas of a group of young people in Los Angeles, California.

She has been on several episodes after joining the show in 2008  which attracts about 2.5 million viewers.

Last summer she also took part in the American version of the jungle reality show I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

Holly’s Gaelic tattoo is a lesser body-marking statement than the shock 10 plastic surgery procedures her younger sister Heidi - who also stars in The Hills - had in one day in November.
