Already lost the war 13/7/09
Sirs,
I would just like to share my commiserations with Mr. MacLeod who declares himself
an officer in a war against Sabbath ferries -
The image I have in my head is of those
poor Japanese soldiers, isolated in a jungle, who carried on believing they were
still in a war for decades after they had actually lost the war.
Still I'm happy Mr.
MacLeod is enjoying seeing himself as a soldier in a just war, regardless of his
confusion surrounding the facts. A little escapism is good for him I'm sure.
I also
agree that the debate over Sunday ferries was sidetracked by discussion of the Sabbath,
because they are two separate issues.
I think that there are plenty of reasons against
Sunday ferries without having to misrepresent scripture in the process. The simple
fact of the matter is that the case for Sunday ferries is overwhelming. That is why
the debate is deceptively being framed as a fight of society against God, in the
hope of guilt-
Now again, I don't intend to go over the same arguments
again, people can read back through the letters if they so wish, but I think it is
eminently clear to most folk that the LDOS and Mr. MacLeod are arguing from a basis
of tradition as opposed to scripture.
Indeed, their continued use of the phrase 'Christian Sabbath' shows the dodgy theological
ground they are on. Anyhoo, as I said, the arguments and the clarity of scripture
are available for those who, unlike Mr. MacLeod and his fellow warriors, have eyes
to see and ears to hear.
I hope that people would remember that it was for freedom
that Christ set us free -
God bless
Eddie
